Book review of The Boyfriend Collector (Book 1). Rose is Cinderella's sister-from-another-mister ;) Another winning story from Mimi Jean Pamfiloff!
An updated retelling
of a classic tale – with an extra-twisty path, OF COURSE. I’ve
read many books from Mimi Jean (loved them all), and you’ve got to
accept the fact that you have NO idea what’s about to happen. Even
when you think you do. I LOVE it!
This is a modern,
fresh faced Cinderella story featuring a sweet -but-strong heroine
and her reluctant-but-charmed hero. It’s incredibly easy to like
and root for Rose – she’s had her entire life turned upside down,
but she’s a fighter determined to get justice for her mother and
herself. Despite her sheltered upbringing and the perils of the path
she sets for herself, Rose will do what it takes to survive and find
her own Happily Ever After. With all the curves and adventures, it’s
still easy to recognize the fantastic “girl power” current
running throughout the story as Rose comes into her own and learns to
trust herself.
This is a very easy
read told in the first person; the story is emotional, clever, and
unexpected. Note that this book is part 1 of 2 in a duet, and while
it doesn’t end in a cliffhanger, you’ll need to read both parts
to get the FULL story. But there’s little waiting involved as The Boyfriend Collector (Book 2) comes out in a few short weeks! You can preorder it now for just 99 pennies!
Happy Reading!
