LPSC31 - Sketch Time

Good morning! Welcome to {Little Paper Shop} Monday! I hope everyone had a good weekend. We had lots of family time again, which has been so nice. Despite all the issues and craziness here this summer, it's still a good one in the end, I think.

Well this week we have a SKETCH for you! Yay!!! Sketch challenges are my favorite. :) The sketch is above and here is my contribution:

I used one images from the August digi release, this is {Jena and Hank}. How cute are they?! I pulled the colors from this funky patterned paper from Me & My Big Ideas. They are colored with Copics (of course). Sentiment from the super-versatile {All Occasions} set, one of my most reached for LPS sets for sure!

We want you to play along with our sketch challenge this week! If you have the time to do so, link up your creation on the LPS store blog and you will have a chance to win the newly released {Katie Carousel} stamp! You can also visit the LPS store blog for more sketchy inspiration. If you upload to one of the forum & gallery sites, use keyword LPSC31.

Don't forget to add coupon code NEWLOOK at the LPS store now through TODAY August 31st for 15% off your order! When you're done ordering, be sure to join us on our new forum site! Lots of great ladies, fabulous LPS inspiration, and free exclusive digis!!

Try It Out Tuesday #33 - Takin' Notes!

Welcome to this week's Try it out Tuesday from Susana's Custom Art and Card Design! It's decorating time this week (TIOT33), we were challenged to create an altered/decorated NOTEBOOK. Yay, I actually love doing these sorts of projects!

I decided to use another of the darlings from the Victoria Case for SCACD Hearts & Hugs Collection 2! This is Aud. All eight images are available now (just released last Friday) so be sure to check them out if you haven't already.

I started off by stamping her in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers. Did some highlighting with the Ranger white gel pen when all the coloring was done. After she was colored I cut her out. I used my new Labels 8 Nestabilities for the pink panel, with Classic Oval Nestabilities layered on top. Plenty of Kaisercraft rhinestone accents on that pink panel for added pop. Aud is up on dimensionals. Added my sentiment "Live for Today" and a hodgepodge frame, lots of ribbon on the binding and it's ready to go! The size of this notebook (about 4" x 6") was making me think it could be something easy to stick into the car or a shoulder bag for when I'm out and about.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope if you have time you play along with our challenge and Try Out a notebook!

LPSC30 & TESC79 - Masculine Colors

Welcome to {Little Paper Shop} Monday! I hope everyone had a good weekend. We had fabulous weather here and lots of family time. The end of "summer" is coming up so fast!

This week we have a COLOR CHALLENGE for you for our challenge! I like color challenges the second-best of all challenge types {sketch being No. 1 of course}. So today I combined the best of both worlds with our LPSC30 Color Challenge and Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #79 {TESC79}. Here is the end result:

I had to flip Taylor's sketch straight down the middle in order to get my net in the right orientation from this fun {Gone Fishin'} stamp set. I stamped all three images in Memento Rich Cocoa ink. I added a touch of color to the fish using Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol. Ran the blue panel through my Cuttlebug with the Houndstooth folder for some texture on that layer. That's one of the new Spellbinders Borderabilities In Spades on the horizontal panel. How cool are these?? If you haven't tried them, you MUST. Susana has lots in stock and at a great price!

We want you to play along with our color challenge this week! If you have the time to do so, link up your creation on the LPS store blog and you will have a chance to win a set of the newly released {Katie Carousel} stamps! You can also visit the LPS store blog for more color challenge inspiration.

Don't forget to add coupon code NEWLOOK at the LPS store now through August 31st for 15% off your order! Be sure to join us on our new forum site too!

Victoria Case for SCACD Release Day is HERE!

TODAY is THE day!!! It's the release for the second installment of the Victoria Case for SCACD Hearts & Hugs Collection! They are available now so check it out!! This image is called Game Players. Victoria's critters are always adorable!

For today's card I used this week's sketch challenge over on Taylored Expressions (TESC78). A perfect match for the size and orientation of this image. Plus I love the little extra layer in the corner because I KNEW I had to have some kind of "game" embellishment on this and that was just the spot. I have a really cool looking poker chip or two SOMEWHERE but I couldn't find them when I was making this. I did find these mini playing cards though, and I think they worked out even better!

I started off by stamping the image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers. Did some highlighting with the Ranger white gel pen when all the coloring was done. The paper colors are So Saffron, Real Red and Basic Black. Put on some ribbon and of course the pièce de résistance; the cards. I didn't put a ton of embellishments on here because I think that the image really stands well on its own - it doesn't need much to dress it up! I did add glitter to the butterfly's wings - everything's better with glitter. :)

Be sure to visit all of the DT blogs to see what they have created for today's big release!! Then head over to the Susana's Custom Art and Card Design store and pick up your favorites from this new batch of cuteness!

Autumn is Here & Blog Candy too!

Here we are!! Preview day for the second release of the Victoria Case for SCACD Hearts & Hugs Collection! This is Autumn. I love her sassy boots and her sweet expression!

For today's card I used last week's sketch challenge over on Splitcoast Stampers SC241. Here's the sketch:

I started off by stamping Autumn in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers. Did some highlighting with the Ranger white gel pen when all the coloring was done. The paper colors are So Saffron, Taken With Teal and Chocolate Chip. Put on some ribbon and one of the uber-sparkly and fun Petaloo Dazzlers flowers to some zing.

It didn't quite look finished so I added Kaisercraft rhinestone accents up in the corner. Since the teal colored rhinestones I had didn't quite match Autumn, I made my own custom-colored ones! I took the Copic marker that I used to color the image and colored on the Diamond rhinestones (the clear ones). Alcohol markers will color on the plastic with no problem and dry permanently - viola, instant color-coordination. It's one of my favorite tricks for all types of embellishments!

Be sure to visit all of the DT blogs to see what they have created - see if you can spot ALL EIGHT of the new images!!

Jennifer Greco (that's me!)

Of course if you haven't already done so, head over to the store blog, Follow Your Heart, and enter to win the amazing blog candy that Susana is offering up! Then the fun continues tomorrow, as these new little darlings will be available at the Susana's Custom Art and Card Design online store first thing in the morning so set your alarm!

TIOT32 - A Gift for Back to School!

Welcome to this week's Try it out Tuesday from Susana's Custom Art and Card Design! It's gifting time again (TIOT32) and this week we are staring down the barrel at Back To School for all the kids in the neighborhood! Yes, that's with all capital letters, LOL. And my DS #1 is starting a 4K program this year, so it's our first real gear up for school as well {hence the capital letters}.

What better for back to school than an altered lunchbox, decorated notebook and some shiny pencils?? I also made a little gift card to add on when we give it to her. I had wanted to make something girly, so this is for one of the neighbor girls that my kids play with almost every day {her name is Avery, obviously!}.

I do believe I made my position on
Scor-Tape excessively clear in my TIOT29 post {haha!!} but I used it to adhere the paper to this lunch tin as well {not as durable as the Mod-Podge route, but WAY less messy and less overall project time too} and I'll say again - everyone needs Scor-Tape. It's the BEST for giftie projects of all types - boxes, bags, tins; as well as adding heavy embellishments, ribbon, etc. I'll leave it at that this week. ;-)

So I measured and cut all my Daisy D's patterned paper and adhered it to the tin with
Scor-Tape. Added ribbon in those hard-to-cover areas - if you had started with a WHITE or other neutral-colored tin {I didn't}, you could get away with leaving these white, or if you wanted to paint and then Mod-Podge to keep it on there {I didn't} you could do that too, but ribbon is the "go to" item for me for these types of areas for me. You can see in the photo, the ribbon is the pink "frame" around the sides of the tin lid.

Stamped a whole bunch of coordinating
Lockhart images to go on the various pieces, cut to size and colored with Copic markers. I used Itty Bitty Vase of Flowers, Violet Cupcake, Delphinium & Peony, and Polka Dot Butterfly. After coloring and assembling I added some Baubles and various paper flowers to spruce it up and we were all set! I added some pencils to go with the decorated notebook, we'll put it all into the tin with space to spare in case she has anything else she'd like to keep in there; and we've got a great little friend gift just in time for our end of summer party!

Some
Susana's Custom Art and Card Design NEWZ today too! I want to say a big WELCOME to our TWO newest DT members - Carolyn Bounds & Dianne Prewitt! Yay!! They are super-talented ladies, stop by their blogs & say "HI". PLUS lots of FUN is coming to Susana's Custom Art and Card Design this week! New Victoria Case for SCACD stamps will be released on Friday!! Blog candy will be up on the store blog tomorrow so stay tuned. If you have an "old" Victoria Case for SCACD Stamp Company blinkie on your blog, please update the code!! Susana has expanded that section of her store so there is a new link for the blinkie!! A HOPPIN' Thanks to IBFS!!

Hello from Danni's blog and welcome to our HOP! I have to say, blog hops are one of my favorite things about blog-land, and this one is very special. It's a shout-out & THANK YOU to Della of I Brake For Stamps (IBFS), who is a huge behind the scenes helper for Susana's Custom Art & Card Design -- she makes all the stamps! All the DT's blogs today are showcasing a different project featuring a stamp from Della's store, so make sure and hop all the way through to see it all!!

Here are some details about my card (read on for details about PRIZES and COUPON CODES too!). The IBFS image I chose for today's gala is one of the Little Rascals; meet Wimke. Is he not the cutest?! Well, actually all the Little Rascals are pretty stinkin' cute, but Wimke really caught my eye. I have two little boys so I am always eager for good boy images. I can just picture him - he's sitting there making sure his head is still attached after he fell off the swings at the end of a dirty, busy, crazy day of playing... Projecting? Moi?? LOL!

But I digress! I chose to use the MOJO99 sketch for my card today, it's a neat one, very unique. I didn't have it in front of me when I was working so I had to go from memory - I didn't do tooooooo bad, heehee. I stamped Wimke in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers. Did some highlighting with the Ranger white gel pen when all the coloring was done. Cut and matted the sky section using Petite Oval Nestabilities. The rest of the card is pretty straightforward, I kept to the sketch as best I could. Kaisercraft rhinestone accents underneath the main image area. The sentiment is from Lilac City Designs, this little guy just HAD to have that one on his card. Viola!

Now for the good stuff!! There will be a prize for one LUCKY hopper, but you have to leave a comment on every blog for the chance to win. The winner will be picked randomly from comments left on one of the DT's blog's--but it's a MYSTERY as to who's blog it come from! The prize up for grabs are four IBFS stamps, along with a brand new Ranger Heat Gun--it heats quickly & does NOT blow your embossing powder around--it's FANTASTIC!

Even if you aren't chosen for the big prize, you're still a winner! Della is offering a coupon code for 15% off purchases at IBFS only (coupon code NOT valid at SCACD store). Enter BLOGHOP at checkout to receive your discount! I love when I can make my own sale.

Now go on & get back to hoppin'!! Your next stop is TERI at TeriBeri's Creations! If you are just joining in, you can go back to Suzanne's blog to start from the beginning.

Wednesday, August 12, 2009

We'll Be Hoppin' Soon!

Be sure to stop by here tomorrow for a VERY SPECIAL blog hop!! I can't give it away yet but it's a fabulous idea for a wonderful friend of Susana's Custom Art & Card Design. There WILL be a prize given away at some point and there MAY some other special perks for those that hop with us, so be back here tomorrow to get the scoop!!

TIOT31 - Color Challenge!

Welcome to this week's Try it out Tuesday from Susana's Custom Art and Card Design! It's color challenge time (TIOT31) and this week we are working with Black, Pink and Yellow! What a fun and happy combo! I decided to go BRIGHT for this one {even though I rarely go that route as I am severely "brights" challenged}. I used another of the new Elisabeth Bell for SCACD stamps for today's challenge; this is Susan.

I used this week's sketch from Taylored Expressions on today's card, love Taylor's sketches {as I know you've heard!}. This is TESC77.

I decided to try something different today, so after I stamped Susan in Memento Tuxedo Black, I colored her with colored pencils and Gamsol {deviation from Copic markers -- shock!!}. I wanted a little bit of a different look and I really do enjoy coloring with the pencils. I still did some highlighting with the Ranger white gel pen when all the coloring was done though. Then cut and matted using Petite Oval Nestabilities. As I said, the colors are BRIGHT - I chose Yo Yo Yellow, Melon Mambo and Basic Black. The patterned paper is Melon Mambo prints from Stampin' Up!.

Big news at the store, Susana has TONS of new products in, including the NEW Robin's Nest Tear Drops, just released Pink Cat Fairy Friends, and of course the new Flower Soft! AND, last but not least, all the NEW Nestabilities Labels 5 through 9 - you'll have to race me there because I NEED some of those! Check it out!

Hope you enjoy this week's color combo challenge - we'd love for you to play along with the TIOT! Make sure you use keyword SCACD on all forum site uploads so we can check out your creations.

LPSC28 and a Tutorial!!

Happy Monday! What a fun and busy weekend we had over here. I hope yours was good and you're ready for the week! :) Of course Mondays over here mean a new challenge from the {Little Paper Shop}!

Some NEWS over at LPS this morning that I wanted to share! Julia a new forum site and we'd love to have you join us for fun project sharing, chats, and more! Click here to visit the forum - see you there. :) ALSO, there is newa coupon code for 15% off the entire purchase active RIGHT NOW. Yeah!! Who doesn't love coupon codes?? All you have to do is enter the code NEWLOOK at checkout. What a deal! Coupon code is valid until August 31st.

This week's challenge on the LPS blog is to use YOUR favorite color combo challenge! Well my favorite color combo is ALL of them, I think it depends on the image, the layout, my MOOD, LOL. So I'm sharing a card today that I made for the spread in the June issue of Scrapbook News and Review as their Guest Cardmaker. This card also had a tutorial to go along with it, so I will share that with you as well. Before I get to all that, I just wanted to remind you to check out the LPS blog for more inspiration, and if you play along with us, you will have a chance to win two free digis from the {Little Paper Shop}! Link up your post on the LPS blog to enter. If you upload your creation, use keyword LPSC28.

Custom-Colored Background Cloud Tutorial

Supplies - Image or paper you want to add the clouds to, cloud template (mine is home made!), ink, sponge, scratch paper for under your work.

Instructions:

1. If you don't have one, you'll need to make a cloud template. You can use acetate (a transparency sheet), heavy plastic, such as a kid's toy package or clear box, or even paper. If you do use paper be careful because ink will transfer off if you try to use a different color, so you might need several for different colors. To make the template I just hand-drew some puffy clouds. You can see from the photo that my template is not symmetrical, which I did on purpose. I didn't want the clouds to look too much "the same" as I work with them, so I intentionally tried to give it some variety. For this template I used a piece of packaging from some markers I had bought.

2. Starting at the bottom of your piece, set the cloud template onto your project where you want to begin. Get some ink onto your sponge, then dab off just a bit onto the scratch paper so you don't start off with a dark blob where the ink is the heaviest. Then, beginning with the sponge on the template, drag the inky sponge off and onto the paper with an upward motion.

3. Continue this pattern of inking up the sponge, sponging off onto scratch paper and then dragging the sponge from the template onto the paper. You will work from the bottom up and keep moving the template until you are done. You can vary the position of your template so that your clouds don't look too much the same as you work upwards.

4. Now your project is finished. Some optional finishing touches include sponging the edges and adding a bit of ink color to any areas that are too "white" to fit into the rest of the project. To do that, simply ink up your sponge, sponge off WELL onto scratch paper and then very lightly drag over the areas you want to add a hint of color too. You can always go back and add more color, but you can't take it away, so use this sparingly!

5. Another way I use this technique is to add clouds behind a person or scene on a card. When you do this, you will want to make a mask of your image so that you don't accidentally get the cloud ink onto your finished product. Mask off your image {you will probably want to tape it down using repositionable adhesive} and then proceed to add clouds per the above instructions. When you remove the mask you'll have a lovely sky behind your image, but the image itself is clean!

6. Finish project using this piece. You can see mine at the top of this post. I wanted to add - by no means did I invent this "technique", however this is my own written and photographed description of how *I* do it. That's all!

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you have a good one. :)

Anki's Sweethearts - Emilia

Happy Saturday!! Whew! Well between major issues I was having with Blogger, all the electrical storms of last night and this morning and our family outing, I am amazed I can finally get this card up and posted. But here it is at last. :)

This little darling is called Emilia, and she's one of Anki's Sweethearts, a stamp line exclusive to Susana's Custom Art and Card Design. She's definitely a sweetheart! I love her ankle-strap shoes.

Extra anticipation with this creation as well - I am able to share this card on my blog after weeks of waiting! It was published in Scrapbook News and Review in the June issue; I was their Guest Cardmaker for the month and this is one of four featured projects I created for the article. What a treat that was!

The colors here are Elegant Eggplant, Soft Sky and Baja Breeze. Of course you see some Basic Grey Wisteria in there too, one of my favorites in the BG lines! What this card really needed was some Flower Soft for her little bouquet, but I didn't have any the right color. :( Now that the new POLAR WHITE is out (Susana haaaaaaaaaaaaaaas some!!!), I think I'll try making my own custom color. That will make me REALLY happy!

All the standard deets for this one, I stamped her in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers. Did some highlighting with the Ranger white gel pen when all the coloring was done. Cut and matted the sky section using Petite Oval Nestabilities and added the white dots with the gel pen too. Cuttlebugged the background piece and the circle behind the main layer, and Kaisercraft pearl accents all around. Viola!

In other news - Susana has gotten more new products in! Check out the NEW Robin's Nest Tear Drops, just released Pink Cat Fairy Friends, and of course the new Flower Soft!

Thanks for stopping by today, have a good rest of the weekend!

New Product Alert!!

Susana at Susana's Custom Art and Card Design has just gotten in NEW Flower Soft - in Polar White and Autumn colors!! Woo hoo!!! Get over there and get yours now!

Try It Out Tuesday #30

Welcome to this week's Try it out Tuesday from Susana's Custom Art and Card Design! It's sketch time again and this is a good one (TIOT30). I love the circle embellies on the long panel. I used another of the new Elisabeth Bell for SCACD stamps for today's challenge; this is Dolly. Wouldn't you like to have a tea party with her??

I had to pull out some Basic Grey for this card, I chose LilyKate, my all-time favorite BG pattern set. I also used some complimentary papers from DCWV that I had in my scrap pile. All the usual suspects to create this, I stamped her in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers. Did some highlighting with the Ranger white gel pen when all the coloring was done. Cut and matted using Labels 4 Nestabilities. The glitter dots are Freesia. Cheater bow at the top (one of my favorite add ons!) and clouds in the background and Dolly is all ready for her picnic!

I hope you are inspired to get sketchy with us this week! You can find more inspiration on the store blog and the rest of the DT members' individual blogs.

Also, be sure to check out the visit the CANDY POST on the SCACD store blog today - some great Lockhart stamps and BASIC GREY paper up for grabs so go and play! Scavenger Hunt candy goes until August 8th -- good luck!

TECC76 - Danni's Butterflies

Welcome to the weekend! What better way to spend this rainy Saturday morning than stamping and blurfing?? No better way! :)

Today I would like you to meet Danni. She is an exclusive stamp for Susana's Custom Art and Card Design, designed by Elisabeth Bell - one of seven stamps released at SCACD in July. Isn't she sweet? I love how she's blowing the flower petals while the butterflies flutter all around her. Such a fun image to create with!

For today's card I used the new sketch over at Taylored Expressions. Taylor always has really great sketches, she's one of my first stops when I'm looking for a sketch challenge to play in! This is TECC76.

I started with some Basic Grey Two Scoops and pulled color palette from the paper. Stamped Danni in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers. Did some highlighting with the Ranger white gel pen when all the coloring was done - best white gel pen around!! I rarely have problems with mine and if there is an ink flow problem {as does happen with this type of ink}, I have always found it to be easily fixed. Cut and matted the sky section using Classic Circle Nestabilities {it is hard to see, but the circle is white cardstock that I created a cloud background onto}.

When everything was cut out and ready to go {i.e. minimal handling of my image left}, I added some Art Institute Ultrafine Transparent Glitter in Water Color to her wings, and Angel Dust to the D'Vine Swirl Cuttlebugged background piece. I use a Quickie Glue Pen for all my glitter work, it's hands-down my favorite tool for adding powders. It has a nice, fine point, good flow, and it dries quickly so you are all set with your glittery project right away!

Don't forget, when you upload your SCACD creations to SCS and PCP, be sure to use the keyword SCACD. That way we can find them easily and leave you lots of love! Thanks for stopping by today, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Supplies, etc.: Stamps - Danni from Elisabeth Bell for SCACD. Paper - Basic Grey Two Scoops, Cardstock from SU in Groovy Guava, Bermuda Breeze and So Saffron. Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black, Soft Sky. Other - Ribbon from American Crafts, dimensionals, Copic markers, Paper snips, Nestabilities, Cuttlebug, D'Vine Swirl embossing folder, White Gel Pen from Ranger, Quickie Glue Pen, Angel Dust and Water Color Art Glitter, cloud template, sponge.
