Sensational Sunday with Sk8r Boi

Good Sunday morning, everyone! It was announced last week, but with my parent's visit I didn't share on my blog: I have joined the crew over at the Loves Rubberstamps store for a summer design team tour! I'm super excited about it! There are SO many amazing products in the store, the hardest part is choosing WHICH amazing image, gorgeous papers and fantastic diecut to use on my projects! I guess that's a pretty good problem to have, huh? ;)

Loves Rubberstamps has a weekly inspirational blog hop every Sunday, as well as a challenge every Tuesday. Check things out, explore the blog and those of my design team sisters, and play along with us on Tuesdsays! I would love to see your themed creations (and yes, of COURSE, you can win prizes!!). So without further ado...

Welcome to the Loves Rubberstamps weekly Sensational Sunday Blog Hop! The Design Team has created some gorgeous projects for your Inspiration. Check out each link and leave a comment. If you get lost along the way, each stop will have a full list of links.

One of the Design Team posts is the hop's Sensational Sunday Sweet Spot and a name will be drawn from that list of comments to be in a monthly drawing for a $20 Loves Rubberstamps Gift Voucher! We will draw the winner of the Voucher the 1st Sunday of each month from all the comments left on the design team blogs! Remember, you have until 8:00 pm CST Saturday to leave your comments!

Here is my creation for today! I got to dig through and play with some stamps that haven't seen daylight in awhile, how fun is that?!

Supplies:
Copic Markers (love 'em ALL!)
Mono Multi (of course!)

I had some awesome inspiration for this card - I used the Viva la Verve sketch #1 for May, and the color challenge from Crafty Catz this week (#277) - so perfect for a boy card like this! Here are the pieces:

So from here, your next stop is Pam!  Thanks for stopping by today, be sure to comment for your chance to win! I'll see you back here in a day or two with another great project to share. Happy stamping!

Wags 'N Whiskers: Banner Up!

Good morning everyone! Happy Friday! I know I've been very quiet - my mom and dad came for a visit...I haven't seen them since early Fall so it had been WAY too long. They came for just under a week (not long enough!) and we were very busy visiting and all kinds of fun things. Phew! What a whirlwind. They left yesterday afternoon - that was pretty rough. :( But I'll see them this summer so it won't be nearly as long as last time. And it's not winter! Yay!

Today we are bringing you a new challenge over at Wags 'n Whiskers. This challenge is for Banners & Bunting. Let's see those great dies and shapes on your lovely creations! Don't forget, there are FREE STAMPS up for grabs! Link up on the W'nW blog post!

Here is my contribution, featuring Super Ryan:

Isn't he a doll? Love it! I used this week's Mojo Monday (Mojo Monday #395) for my sketch, and I pulled the colors from the House of Cards challenge. The Mojo was a Tall & Skinny, which is NOT my forte, but because it's outside my comfort zone, of course I had to try it! The House of Cards colors were perfect for a bright, fun, boy card. I did not actually enter the challenge though, because my post didn't go live until May 1st. Oops! Still, I am pleased I chose these colors for Mr. Ryan! Here is my inspiration:

This card is 4.25" x 7". I don't have those AWESOME banner dies yet that seem to be popping up everywhere, so I had to create my own banner piece. Ryan is colored with various Copic markers. For some reason my photo just wanted to be dark, but the colors are very bring in person. The stars in the upper corner are brads. I substituted a punched star for the tag piece on the sketch.

Challenges:
Inspiration Destination - #31: Anything Goes
Sister Act - #104: Anything Goes

That's it for me today! Make sure you link up your creations on the blog for a chance to win! I'll see you back here on SUNDAY with a brand new creation! Stamp happy!

TGIF! And today, the "goodness" is in the form of a new challenge over at Simply Papercraft! This is Challenge #3, and our theme is "Lots of Layers". Isn't she lovely? What a fun image to color. And yes, we saw Frozen no less than 5 times (as my kids can confirm). ;)

The sketch for this card comes from the current Sketch Saturday Challenge (Sketch Saturday #357). Here's the sketch:

Love it! Great inspiration by the Design Team over there as well.

Here are a couple of other views of the card to show the coloring and other details:

.I used one of this month's Viva La Verve sketches for this card - April, week 3. Here is the sketch:

I had fun with this one. I was not sure when I first started putting this card together if the sketch was going to work out, but after a lot of changed elements and tweaking layers, I'm quite pleased with it. :)

Wags 'n Whiskers: Flower Power!

Hello and Happy Friday! Wow, another week has just flown by around here. But all good things, the kids are staying busy, the weather is GORGEOUS and of course got in some stamping time!

Today we are bringing you a new challenge over at Wags 'n Whiskers. In the true vein of springtime, we want to see FLOWERS! Don't forget, there are FREE STAMPS up for grabs! Bring on the floral fantasy with your lovely creations, and link up on the W'nW blog post!

Here is my card, using the image "Fairy: Lacey". She's my favorite of the fairies, but they are all quite lovely. You can find all of them in the Wags 'n Whiskers shop.

I had a hard time pulling this card together initially. I had a different sketch and layout in mind, but it just wasn't working. I ended up changing it around and I'm much much happier with the end result! I did use a sketch for this project today, Digi Sketch Challenge for this week, which included the sketch, with an optional twist of flowers. I also chose the inspiration photo piece from Creative Colors (#33) for my color palette. I actually searched around for a color challenge specifically for this image. I LOVE it (I think I mentioned that....) but when I'm doing fairies, I tend to gravitate toward pink/green/white as my color combo. Not that there is anything wrong with that! I love that one. I have a whole bunch of them in my stash, and they are so pretty and girlie and fun. But I wanted to branch out a little bit today, and this bright, springy, happy photo really caught my eye! So here are my inspirations:

Instructions:

This is a 5.5" x 5.5" square card. I gave it 1/4" margins all around (the 1/8" didn't allow enough of the layers through for my taste). The Orchid layer is stamped with the outline Mosaic Background Stamp from Starving Artistamps in Versamark and heat embossed using "Bridal" embossing powder from a local stamping shop - a clear EP with a purpleish glitter tone to it (how's THAT for a description?!). Of course Lacey is done in black on Papertrey white cardstock and colored with Copic markers. I cut around her to use the circle Nestabilities and the entire main image layer is adhered with dimensional foam tape. The patterned paper pieces are from Die Cuts With A View, Basic Grey, and Stampin' Up! All flowers are from Prima and the pearls are Kaisercraft (they are yellow). I paper pierced the edge using my SU piercing template and did the faux stitching effect using a gold metallic paint marker. The sentiment is actual wooden Scrabble tiles I pilfered from a Scrabble board game to further the cause of extreme stamp supply {hoarding} needs. :)
