Belli Challenge Wednesday - Thanksgiving!

Wednesday already?! LOL, I know, I always say that right? Well that means it's time for the Belli Challenge! If you're not familiar with the challenge, belli is short for embellishment - each week our challenge founder, Chris, chooses an embellishment or theme for us to showcase. This week is #40 and the challenge is THANKSGIVING (keyword CBC40 on Splitcoast).

This card uses one of the great new fall stamps from Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps. I love this pumpkin! Here is the full sheet if you're interested in checking it out - Fall & Winter 2008 Half Sheet.

The colors are Handsome Hunter, Black, White, Summer Sun, and some patterned paper from the LSS. This card uses the Pencil Over Ink technique, which is very simple, but really pops. It works best with solid or mostly-solid image stamps on dark colored cardstock. For those that aren't familiar with this technique, here's a quick overview -

Pencil Over Ink:

First, stamp your image in a good white ink. I have found that Palette New Canvas, Brilliance Moonlight White or SU's Craft White will all work, however I prefer the Palette because it dries fastest and doesn't need to be heat set. I can't STAND waiting around for things to dry!! Once it's dry, take your colored pencils and color over the image, letting some of the white around the edges still show through. You can use several different shades to give more depth, you don't have to do any special blending or anything like that. Just color. I have used both Prismacolor penciles and Koh-i-Noor pencils with good success. This card used the Koh-i-Noor.

That's all! Easy peasy, right? Yes! Go try! *grin*

Oh, but before you go, click on over and check out the gorgeous designs of the rest of the Belli Challenge Design team for this week: Holly Brown, Chris Dickinson, Danita Hollander, Shelly Koskinen, Joan Ervin, Rochelle Wick, Ceal Pritchett, and Lori Ames.

Go Bucky Go!

Woo hoo! The UW Badger Football team won their homecoming game yesterday after 4 straight losses. I don't much follow college football but it's pretty tough to miss this news, LOL. It is really fun to go to games and we do occasionally, so I like to at least keep an ear out for the scores each week.

I had been saving this card to post after a WIN, so here it is! I used the Football Fan stamp set from Firecracker Designs by Pamela to create this card. So color challenge or sketch challenge or anything, just a fun Badgers-themed card. {Bucky Badger is the team's mascot, for those who are wondering about the title, heehee}.

Skiing Snowman With Extra Shimmerz!

HELLLOOOOOO....helloooo....{echo...echo...} LOL! Well hopefully it hasn't been *that* long that all my readers have completely abandoned me. heehee. I know I get the bad blogger award - and the sad part is I have so much to share. I just haven't been at the computer much lately to actually type up the posts! Sheesh!

But I'm here now so I'd better get to it! What do you think of this little snowman -- do you not loveeeeyyyyy him!? He's from Prickley Pear and I think he's just darling. The sentiment is from PPRS too. I made this card while we were down in FL, hence the super-bright glitter-n-Shimmerz portion of the photo. But hey, if that's my biggest complaint...

This was for CC186 over at Splitcoast {done while it was current even!} - Chocolate Chip, Really Rust and Baja Breeze. Since I wasn't at home I didn't have any Baja, but I did have Sage Shadow so I used that. Stamped the image, colored with markers, added Dazzling Diamonds glitter and Shimmerz Paints {Angel Wings}. Have I mentioned that Shimmerz Paints are my new most favorite thing(s)? I use 'em on almost every project now! It adds soooo much sparkle with so little effort; which I am allllll about. Added white gel pen snow on the treetops & some marker highlights at the end there, and I think it turned out pretty well {IIDSSM, right?}. Be back tomorrow {I hope} with more goodies - so have a great night!

Autumn Whispers

Happy Friday out there! I know I haven't been keeping up my regular schedule of "special" blog posts - like the Tipster Tuesday, Friday Favorites, etc. To be honest, I haven't blurfed in two or three weeks! Can you believe that? It's been so busy here with the family, then the vacation to Florida. I hope to get back to it, but we'll have to see how it goes - I don't seem to have as much time to play as I used to and it's not fun!

But anyway, I do have some weekend inspiration of my own for you. I made this card for a challenge that Belinda from Clear Artistic Stamps sent out - to make a fall-themed card. Well, fall is my favorite time of year (although I have to say, those trips to the pool and the ocean last week might have me rethinking that one!) so I was all over it. This card uses Saffron, Chocolate and Rust. The image is from Whispers of Dreams from CAS and I did the background with my Scor-Pal -- if you don't have one, you NEED one. It is a must-have IMHO. If you click the pic, a GIGANORMOUS version will load and you can see all the details. Have a great weekend!

Shimmerz Ornaments!

Happy Wednesday! Time for the Belli Challenge again. This week is #37 and the challenge is PAINT (keyword CBC37). Well, that was a no-brainer, let me tell ya! When I hear "paint" I reach for the SHIMMERZ. Love love!

So, this is from the Splitcoast sketch challenge SC196 from last week. I used this fabulous ornament stamp from Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps, colored with Koh-i-Noor pencils and Gamsol, then painted on Angel Wings Shimmerz on all three ornaments. Added some ribbon and hardware and viola! Be sure to link your creation to Chris' post for a chance to win! Also check out the other Belli girls' blogs for more painty fun - Holly, Courtney, Christi, Ceal, and Shelly!

Here is the original sketch (I flipped it, of course, LOL):

Supplies, etc.: Stamps - Ornament Trio from Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps. Paper - Old Olive, Bashful Blue and GP 110# white cardstock, Holiday Thyme patterned paper, Bazzill Bling. Ink - Palette Noir. Other - White velvet ribbon from American Crafts, Antique Copper hodegpodge ribbon slide, Cool Grey Copic marker, Koh-i-Noor pencils, stumps, Gamsol, Shimmerz Paint in Angel Wings, mini glue dots for the ribbon.

In the LIMELIGHT Contest!

Ok, here are my photos for the Limelight Papercrafts WCMD "What's in your purse" game that Mandy ran. Unfortunately, since I am visiting my mom and dad in FL, I don't have a pic of "The Devil Wears Prada" DVD because....I'm not at home. But I have the others! In no particular order...

Candy - Tootsie Pops, my DS #1's absolute favorite thing in the world.

Breakfast - Just toast and Chai Latte (I had already drank some as you can see!) this morning because I knew we were having an early lunch before we hit the BEACH - 80+ degrees here today, no wonder my dad doesn't want to move back to Wisconsin.

Sleeping family member - I am so lucky I had this picture in my e-mail from when I sent it to my mom awhile back. This was taken in probably May of my DS #1, he's 3.5 in this photo. I stay up late and read or stamp while all my boyz are in bed, and check on them before I go to sleep. Around midnight one night I sneak in there and he looks like he came home from the frat party and passed out or something!! That CAN'T be comfortable!

Partially finished cards - I've been trying to figure out what to do with this image I colored and Shimmerz'd like 3 days ago and still haven't used it yet!! So I'd say that counts! I have been a stamping maniac on this vacation -- I LOVE IT!!

The mousepad on my mom's computer is not very exciting - but here it is! Cordless mouse with the laptop is cool at least! We need one of those at home.

Sadly, no Devil Wears Prada and DH isn't home to take the pic of mine for me, so that's it!

TSSC37 & Heather's Hardware

Here's a card for Heather's WCMD Hardware challenge. The stamp is from Jessica Lynn Original. Various patterned paper from the LSS here by mom's house, and the sketch is from MJ's Technostamper Sketch Challenge (TSSC37).

Here is the sketch if you'd like to test me. :)

TECC36 Santa Train!

Happy World Card Making Day!! There are a lot lot lot of challenges out there today and I have participated in a couple. This one is for Heather's QKD Challenge - to use gold or silver on a card. Since I'm not at home my options were very limited and I had no gold or silver paper at all. So the best I could do was some gold ribbon along the top of this one - but I tried!

I used Taylor's Cupcake Challenge sketch for this weekend - TECC36. Always love Taylor's sketch ideas! The stamps are from Jessica Lynn Original. Here's the sketch (I flipped it -- not on purpose though, LOL):

I have some really cool news to share! A week or two ago I applied for a spot as a Royal Stamping Maid for Queet Kat Designs - and I made the team! I am SO excited for this new opportunity, and I'll be working with are some very talented girls on the team. Our term officially starts on November 1st, so I'll have some good stuff to share with you starting then {if not sooner!}. I will also be adding a list of the other DT members blogs and all that good stuff to my sidebar very soon - right now the beach is calling me! But you can click the link in this post to go to the main QKD site - lots of SUPER cute stamps and other goodies to check out there!

Greetings from Florida!

I know I've been MIA here this week, I think I mentioned I took the kids to Florida to visit my parents. So we've been busy at the beach and pool and enjoying the beautiful weather before we head back home to fall.

I'll try to be back later with a card to share, depending on how the day shapes up. Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend!!
